Week 5: Researching your animal or animals

You will begin by selecting an animal that you would like to learn more about or a region of the world that you would like to learn more about the animals that live there. You will need to find out:
  1. the animal's natural habitat
  2. the animal's natural food sources
  3. the animals natural predators
  4. is the animal social or solitary?
  5. is the animal nocturnal or awake during th day?
  6. where does the animal sleep and seek protection?
  7. how does the animal defend itself
Public libraries are a great place to find books on animals. You may also use the internet for your research. If you need help finding resources let Michelle know.
Assignment: Your assignment this week is to start a VoiceThread on the animal(s) that you are going to include in your zoo exhibit. Post a picture of each animal on the voicethread and then tell us about the animal (1-7 above). You each have a page on our class wiki that you can use to share your work http://giftedkidsnetwork.wikispaces.com/Student+Work+Pages This page lists all the student pages. Just click on your name and you will open your page. You can then edit the page and add your 'work in progress'. If you need help embedding the voicethread on your wikipage watch the tutorial on embedding a voicethread on the wiki. Davis started a voicethread on the endangered animals in Kentucky. Take a look at hers if you need to see an example of what to do https://giftedkidsnetwork.wikispaces.com/Davis
Discussion: Please view at least 5 of the voicethreads created by other students. For our discussion this week you may make a comment or ask a question about any of the voicethreads you have looked at. If someone comments on or asks about your voicethread be sure to respond back to them.

When you have completed these assignments please move on toweek 6.
